In' laving down a course of action for the clergy of his diocese in regard to united war services, the Bishop of Waiapu says In answer to a question a.-ked of the Primate in General Synod as to combined services generally, the primate, speaking in the name of the bMiops. said:—"We are prepared to- take our part m great national and civic religious commemorations if it be understood that the services are conducted by ministers or laymen acting as individual Christians and citizens, but net as members of aiiv denomination. With this pronouncement, as one of the bishops. I agree. The pronouncement means this : That on these occasions of national or civic- commemorations. we as individual citizens can take, our part, ihe meeting will be in a public place, and our clergy will not wear their robes nor use our book of praver. ouch a gathering will not be in anv Vav a substitute for the proper services of our t hnrch. and it should be hVld at such a time as not to interfere with our own services.
