A wounded British officer was brought into a firman trench. The popular idea was to despatch him forthwith, hut ultimately a sugges tion made hv two German officers was adopted, and the helpless Bri tish officer was hoisted on to the parapet of the trench, and tied there, amid jeers, and informed. "Now you will sec what your cursed bombardment is like." The tier mans descended into a dugout, where, the correspondent believe?, they were bombed to death by British infantry, who stormed the place and rescued the British officer.
