ENGLISH CLIP TAKEN. FIXING OF THE PRICE. Times and Sydney Sun Services. LONDON. JUNE 26. The requisitioning of the new English clip is the paramount topic on the wool market. Opinions are divided as to the effect on colonial crossbreds if the Government pays only 40 per cent, above the prices ruling before the war. LARGE ITALIAN PURCHASES ALL PRECAUTIONS TAKEN. LONDON. JUNE 26. Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr. Eugene Wason called attention to Italy's large wool purchases at the Sydney sales, and asked whether the Government would make special representations to Italy to see that none of the wool reached Germany or Austria. Lord Robert Cecil, Under-Secre-tary to the Foreign Office, said the importance of preventing wool reaching the enemy had frequently been brought under the notice of the Italian Government, which ( had taken strict measures to prevent smuggling. COMBERS ON STRIKE. LONDON. JUNE 26. The strike among the Bradford wool combers is not expected to last long.
