'5' | - r '■"■■ • ■ Ei<iHTi- members of the Ponsonby National Reserve attended the weekly parade on Saturday evening last, and all took part' in the shooting competition for the Clark Cup. The five members in each platoon j who made the highest scorer#ere'as fol-| lows;— No. 1 platoon, Messrs. Tucker, Philips, Chuck, Eirkham, and Jones.; No. 2, Messrs. Levick, Codlin, Peterson, Hill, and Cousins; No. 3, Messrs. W. S. John-! ston, Needham, Russell, Bagnall, and Kenny; No. 4, Messrs. Upton, Crowe, Mines, Fairs, and Barclay. These members, will compete in the second stage of the competition at the Penrose rifle range next Saturday afternoon, while on the r'-enirifr of that day the first, second, and thud-class shots will t commence shooting for valuable trophies donated to the unit. Fully one-third of the members of the unit have qualified to shoot in the first division. The average score for last Saturday was nearly 50 per cent, of the possible points obtainable, this being considered a creditable performance in view of the fact that many of the members had not previously fired a rifle. Baring last Saturday's parade Lieuten-ant-Colonel Baragwanalh, who has resigned from the position of officer commanding the Auckland National Reserve district, attended to bid farewell to the Ponsonby unit prior to his departure to the country.
