STATIONMASTER WANTED.
Request from king country. [BY TELEGRAPH.SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. The need for the appointment of a stationmaster at Okahukura was impressed upon the Minister for Railways to-day by a deputation consisting of Messrs. W. Williams, of Ohura, T. De Vere Hunt, of Matiere, and W. T. Jennings, M.P. The speakers voiced opinions expressed at a recent meeting of Ohura settlers. It was stated that owing to the absence of a stationmaster goods of considerable value recently had been lost. The deputation stated that rather than allow the matter *jf extra expense to the Department to stand in the way, the settlers would agree to allow all goods passing through Okahukura station to be taxed. The Minister said if the volume of trade Warranted the appointment of a stationmaster the request would be granted.
