PROTEST IN WELLINGTON. DEPUTATION TO MR. M ASSET. tBT TELEGRAPH. —PKESS ATirX.5 l^f Wellington, Monday, A deputation of professional and business men in Wellington waited on the Prime Minister to-day to protest against : the proposal to bring in six o'clock closing of hotels, on the ground that this is not necessitated by the conduct, of sol-.. diers and the public, and that the'' economic necessity of such a proposal has not been demonstrated in the slightest ;■ degree. \f%
Mr. Massey replied that the matter was being carefully investigated by the Petitions Committee of the House, which had not yet reported. When the committee reported to Parliament the report would be referred to Cabinet. He would have very much pleasure in conveying the representations made, and they would be given due thought and consideration. v
