FIFTY YEARS AGO.
THE AUCKLAND MEMBERS. (From the HERAIiD of June '26. 1866.) Mr. Cafletox left yesterday by the Airedale for Wellington. To-day the s.s. Wellington will leave this harbour, and will take with her all but four of the eremainder of the Auckland members. Three of tho Messrs. T. Henderson, R. Graham, and Jas. Williamson—have made arrangements to proceed by the next steamer, but of the fourth—Colonel de Quincywe have heard no intimation of any such intention. We can scarcely sup- [ pose, however, that any Auckland mem- ; ber would fail to be in his place on an | occasion when a vote lost may be of the utmost consequence to the province. It would be the duty of such member at once to intimate such intention of absenting himself to his constituents, that they might take action thereupon. This Colonel j de Quincy has not done, and wo may therefore expect that it. is his intention to t '"' remainder of the members to Wellington without delay.
