HOBSON COUNTY COUNCIL.
SMALL BIRDS NUISANCE.
The monthly meeting of the Hobscn County Council was held at Dargaville on Thursday.
The committee appointed to report upon the small bird and other pests, recommended that £50 be voted towards the extermination of sparrows, but that no action be taken regarding the destruction of hares and rabbits. Consideration of the matter was deferred till next meeting. A communication was received from the State Advances Office, that £4000 would be loaned for improvements on the Darga-ville-Whangarei Road. The Public Trustee notifiea that the application to borrow £2500 for improving the Aratapu Road at a cost of 6£ per cent., was under consideration. The Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote that the proposed road rout* from Houto to Parakao was being sur-1 veyed, and that arrangements were being! made to throw open for selection all available Crown lands. The matter of deciding the route of the Omana Road to its junction with the Mangapai Road was deterred.
