WORK OF HOME DEFENCE.
THE KING'S APPRECIATION
(Received June 19. 1 a.m.)
LONDON. JUNE 18. Viscount French reviewed, in Hyde Park, 10,000 volunteers, the majority being over military age. Now that the movement is intended for home defence it has been officially recognised. It is hoped to raise 50,000 men. Viscount French was the bearer of the King's message, to the effect that he highly appreciated the volunteers' loyal and energetic services.
