ALLIES ALLOW 70 VESSELS TO LEAVE THE PIRÆUS.
OBJECTIONS TO ADDITIONAL NOTE ISSUE. ATHENS. JUNE 16. Seventy merchantmen detained in the Piraeus owing to the allies* restrictions on vessels have been allowed to leave for Mitylene or any destination save Kavalla. This port is prohibited on account of the proximity to it of the Bulgarian invaders. The Official International Financial Commission considers that the needs of commerce nowise justify the circulation of an additional £1,250,000 in banknotes. If the Government insists on the issue, Britain and France will withhold from Greece all financial support.
