DEATH IN THE STREET.
CAPT. ARTHUR KETLEY.
ON THE WAY TO CHURCH.
A tragic death occurred in Jervois Road, Ponsonby, yesterday morning, Captain Arthur John Ketley, an old resident, expiring while on the way to church. The deceased was one of the oldest members of the congregation of All Saints* Church, and yesterday he set out with his daughter, Miss Ketley, to attend morning service. He had proceeded from his home in Wallace Street for some distance along Jervois Road, when, suddenly, he fainted. Pedestrians soon carried him to the nearest verandah, where he died be fore he could be conveyed home. Captain Ketley had been ailing for some time, and had been under medical treatment. Dr. King later was able To certify that death was due to heart failure.
The deceased was 77 years of age. He had served in the navy, and he came to New Zealand about 1862. For many years he resided in Ponsonby, where he was well-known and highly respected. He leaves a widow and one daughter.
