ART EXHIBITION.
SUCCESSFUL CLOSING DAY.
The Auckland Society of Arts annual exhibition was concluded on Saturday, when the galleries in Coburg Street were inspected by a large number of people. In the afternoon, musical items, which were much appreciated, were rendered, and, in addition to the usual afternoon tea, a successful sale of home-made cakes was. held by the ladies. During the day sales of pictures were effected as" follows :— No. 31, "The Greenstone River, Whakatipu," by C. Blomfield, £7 7s; 124, "A Little Valley Among the Sand Hills, Kare Kare," J. D. Perrett, £3 3s; 138, " Reverie, Ena te Papatahi, a Ngapuhi Chieftainess," C. F. Goldie, £26 ss; 145, " Bream Head, Whangarei," C. Blomfield, £4 4s; 176, "In the Bed of the Creek," F. Wright, £5 ss; 213, "The Desert." At. H. Mevrick, £3 3s; 266, " Pukurahi, Rotoiti," E. Wr Payton, £3 3s; 277, " Evening on the Wanganui," F. Wright, £3 10s; and 290, "The Bridge of Sighs, Venice," R. Proctor, £6 6s.
