LONDON MARKETS.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. [BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday. The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, June 10, is as follows, tho quotations, unless otherwise specified, being the average market prices on spot,:— MEAT. New Zealand mutton and lamb continues to be in active demand. The demand is m excess of supply, and prices are unchanged. Argentine lamb is in fair demand, at lower prices, owing to the increasing supplies of Argentine beef, together with a moderate supply of Patagonian. Mutton: New Zealand, B|d, ewe Sid: Argentine, lOd. * ' I ™ ll *' NeW Zealand, 9 4 <J *' Argentine, Beef : New Zealand bull, hinds 73d, fores old Argentine, chilled, hinds 10id, fores BUTTER. The market is quiet. The Danish market is steady, salted selling at 1765. Other prices are: Siberian, salted, 1365: Irish creamery, 1625; Australian, 160s; New Zealand, nnsalted 170s, good to fine quality, salted 160s 6d; Argentine, salted 1565, unsalted 160s. CHEESE. The market is steady, with no business doing. The market is quiet but steady for the now season's make. White is quoted at 106s and coloured at 104s. The New Zealand cheose market is somewhat steadier: White 110s, coloured 106»; NewZealand new season's make : White 102s, coloured 100s. HEMP. The market is steady, with very good demand. New Zealand, good, fair, £49 10a ; high point fair, £53; fair, £47 10s; Government graded, fair Manila £53, coarse £50 10s. New Zealand hemp quotations, nominal, Juno and August shipment, trood fair £48, high-point fair £47, fair £46; Government-graded fair Manila £51, coarse £48 10s. The output of hemp at Manila for the week ending last Saturday was 20,000 bales. WHEAT. The market is weaker, and supplies are increasing. Canadian, 50s. OATS. The market is dull, and very little business is doing. HOPS. Business is restricted on account of Government import prohibition. WOOL. Wool is in better demand for all grades of medium and coarse crossbreds. Bradford tops have advanced by a penny naifpenny. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received tie following cablegram from their London Office, under date Bth instant:—" Wool: Average quotations : —Good Merino, Is 9d; medium Merino, Is 7id; inferior | Merino, Is 3idj fine crossbred, Is medium crossbred, Is 7d; coarse crossbred, 40's, Is sid; coarse crossbred, 36's, la 5d." Also a cablegram under date 9th instant, reading:—' Cheese : Market steadier, white 109s, coloured 1055." BUTTER AND EGGS. The Dairy Produce Committee has fixed the wholesale prices for butter and eggs for the week ending June 17, as follows : —Farmers' butter, first grade, Is per lb; fresh eggs, Is 9d per dozen. WELLINGTON FRUIT MARKET. [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. A stronger demand is resulting for both apples and pears, supplies of which have fallen away. Choice apples, 9s 6d to 10s a case, prime 8s to 9s, cookers, • choice, 5s to 5s 6d, prime 4s to 4s 6d; pears, choice dessert, 8s to 9s a case, prime 6s 6d to 7s 6d, stewing 4s to 5s a 1 ease passions, 4s to 5s a box; lemons, 8s to 9s a case; potatoes, choice, 6s 6d to 7s per cwt; onions, 6s 6d to 7s per l cwt: eggs, fresh, 2s 6d per dozen, preserved Is 7d per dozen.
