ANTI-CONSCRIPTIONISTS.

MEETINGS IN AUCKLAND.

{Three meetings were held in Auckland yesterday at which anti-conscription speeches were delivered by some of the Labour members of the House of Representatives and others. The first meeting was held in the afternoon in Quay Street, the other two in the evening at the Globe Rnd Grand Theatres respectively. At each the speakers were Messrs. P. C. Webb, J. McComba, J. Payne, and A. Walker, M.P.'s, R. Semple, and W. Parry. A resolution was carried protesting against the passage of the Military Service Bill, and declaring it would have been unnecessary "had the Government done justice to soldiers and their dependants" A further resolution, which was carried, thanked the Labour members of Parliament for their efforts to prevent the introduction of " Prussian militarism" into New Zealand, and pledged those present at the meetings to oppose the return to Parliament, at the next general election, of those members who voted for the present Bill. It was decided to telegraph copies of the latter resolution to all members of Parliament.
