VICTORS CAPTURE OVER 71,000 PRISONERS AND GUNS.

ADVANCE CONTINUED OVER THE WHOLE FRONT. CAVALRY LEADS THE ATTACK IN SOME SECTORS. (Received June 11, 6.5 p.m.) PETROGRAD, JUNE 10. A Russian communique states: " The piercing of the enemy's front in the Strypa region resulted in the occupation of a fortified position on the east bank of the river. We entered Buczacz, and are developing the offensive along the Dniester. We carried the village of Solanka and seized a large artillery park with great quantities of shells, also the village of Potoklotz. Our captures total 1240 officers and 71,000 men, 94 lnrge guns, 167 machine-guns, 53 bomb throwers, and a large quantity of material." Another Russian communique states : " The Germans arc attempting to check our advance in Volhynia and Galicia. Fresh troops have arrived from the north. Notwithstanding powerful resistance we continue to advance along the whole front from the Pripet marshes to the Roumanian frontier. Many Germans are among the prisoners. Our cavalry led the attack in many sectors. The Cossacks captured two guns, eight ammunition waggons, and 200 caissons. In another sector 30 cylinders of poison gas were captured. We crossed the Btrypa, and some of our troops reached the River Zlota Potok." Buczacz is a town of 13,000 inhabitants in the Austrian province of Galicia, on the River Strypa, a left bank tributary of the River Dniester, rising about 55 miles due south of the fortress of Luck.
