DIFFICULT PARLIAMENTARY SITUATION IN ITALY.

TECHNICAL DEFEAT OF THE GOVERNMENT,

LIBERAL MEMBERS DEMAND MORE INFORMATION. (Received June 11, 5.5 p.m.) ROME. JUNE 10. The Government has been technically defeated on a motion granting the monthly votes on account of the Chamber refusing to insert words expressing confidence in the Government. Beforo the vote Signor Salandra, the Premier, participated in a discussion. He said the discussion was specially important in view of the gravity of the present moment, which demanded an explanation of the international and military situations, on which the attention of Parliament and the country was anxiously fixed. He declared that the unity of the allies was increasing, and gave as instances Italy's resistance, which enabled the Russians to advance victoriously. The same co-operation was seen in the economic and financial measures, notably in th© forthcoming Paris Conference, although no definite engagements would be taken and future action reserved for Parliament.

The Parliamentary situation is somewhat serious. Several Liberal members of the- Chamber of Deputies reproach the Government for withholding from Parliament information regarding the military situation and diplomatic relations, also for isolating itself from the opinion of the nation and the allies.
