DEMAND FOR RESIGNATION. INQUIRY TO BE HELD. HOSPITAL BOARD DEFERS ACTION. [BY TELEGRAPH. — CORRESPONDENT.] Kawakawa, Sunday. As the outcome of a public meeting held in Kawakawa some weeks ago at which resolutions asking the Ray of Islands Hospital Board to terminate its agreement with Dr. Leopold Hagen, medical superintendent) of the Kawakawa Hospital, were passed, a committee appointed at the meeting waited on the Hospital Board on Thursday evening and presented the resolution. Mr. Vernon H. Reed, who was chairman of the meeting, headed the deputation. Mr. T. Hartley moved, and Mr. G. T. Clendon seconded, that the board terminate Dr. Hagen's engagement. Mr. J. A. Hall doubted the statement that the public had lost confidence in the medical superintendent. • L. Dr. Hagen explained that he had & German name and a German diploma, but he was born in London. If Dr. Valintine held an inquiry he was satisfied it would be a just inquiry.
Mr. J. A. Hall moved an amendment that the matter stand over till Dr. Valintine holds an inquiry. Mr. J. Pearson seconded the amendment, -which was carried by four votes to three.
