A SAILOR'S PRAYER.
♦ . I Tiik following is the prayer of a sailorman written on board a British battleship in the North Sea :■ - We crave no lemittance for sins that are pa.-t. Let us pay our msf debts and be free. No shelter we seek from the shell's sudden blast Such thing- as must be. lot them be. We kneel at Thy feet vrlll no boast on our lips That our cause is more inst than our foe's. With no priest-ridden follies for' blasphemous' "tips." Do xt* dare to insult Him who knows... But this. Mightv Cod of our Fathers, we plead. Tlio' Thou smites! Thy sons, keep us true to our creed. That our King and our Empire may never have need To blush fo'- one art. or feel shame for ! one deed I That it wrought by the hand of a Briton. I — Land and Water. i
