;.SBETJTAI GERMAN. METHODS FORDED INTO WAR FACTORIES THREATS OP VIOLENCE. Paris, May 17. 'A notice placarded in the German camps for prisoners of war stating - -that all work allotted to prisoners will bo enforced, even if connected with war operations, has been published. Refusal will be punished by loss of food, by providing sleeping accommodation exposed to the wind or in rooms heated to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, while the men will also bo beaten with the butt of the rifle or bayoneted. Many British, French, Russian, and Belgian prisoners have been forced by threats to work in war factories. The French Government threatens retaliation. .... Advices from The Hague state that British and other soldiers in the Schneidemuhl camp, Prussia, have been compelled "to work on farms and in mines, chiefly in East Prussia and Poland. Many have been deprived of letters and food parcels, which cannot be delivered in the absence of their addresses.
