SUBJECTS OF THE ALLIES. DEMAND FOR ACTION. London, May 17. The tribunal in the Bethnal Green, London, area, considering applications for exemption from men called for enlistment, strongly protests that 200,000 aliens of allied countries of military age. are. in Britain, apart from 22,000 enemy aliens. The tribunal said it was scandalous that Belgian, French, and German aliens should be allowed to steal British work. Allied aliens of military age refusing to join their armies should be regarded as deserters if there were no means of compelling them to return..
