STATE TO COMPENSATE DUBLIN PROPERTY OWNERS. GRANT TO COVER BURNING AND LOOTING. (Received May 18. 11 p.m.) LONDOIJ. MAY 17. The Eoyal Commission on the Irish rebellion will hold its first sitting at Westminster to-morrow. An official statement has been made concerning the damage done to Dublin during the riots. A State grant will be made ex gratia in respect to damage, the maximum amount being the liability that the insurance companies would have incurred if the damage had been accidental. The grant covers burning and looting. Persons guilty of complicity in the outbreak will not benefit. It is understood that the insurance companies will co-operate voluntarily.
