The manager of the United mine, Maratoto, reports that the bad weather experienced last week hampered outdoor work, but operations in the mine proceeded steadily. The tramline in the main level is practically completed, and the water-table is finished. At the battery the framework of the stone-crusher building is well advanced. NEW WAITAIA. Two shifts are being employed in the New Waitaia mine, Kuaotunu, on a rise in the extreme north block above the low level. It is probable that quartz will be encountered in another week, with a possibility of getting values before that time. There is little change in the stopes above the intermediate level, the north end giving fair prospects both in the loose and solid stone.
