MANUKAU COUNTY COUNCIL.
BY-ELECTION NOMINATIONS. Owixg to the alteration of the boundaries of the Pakuranga and Tnranga Ridings of the Manukan County Council, an election for representatives of these ridings on the council is necessary. Only one nomination for the Pakuranga Riding, that of Mr. A. E. Hattaway, was received, and he _ has been declared elected. No nominations were received for the Turanga Riding at the original time of closing, and the date was therefore extended, nominations finally closing at noon yesterday. The following nominations have been received : — Samuel W. Cope. Alfred Ernest BrownhilL Francis Henry BrownhilL All the candidates are residents of Whitford. The election takes place on Thursday, May 25. For the convenience of those wishing to record their vote in the city, a polling-booth will be established at the council's office.
