Archdeacon MacMnrray, who has been attending the Synod meetings in Christchurch, returned to Auckland yesterday morning. Mr. T. M. Broderick, Under-Secretary, of Crown Lands, arrived in Auckland yesterday afternoon. He is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. F. B. Jolly has been installed Mayor of Frankton, vice Mr. C. H. Allen, who resigned owing to his removal from the district. Mr. D. J. Nathan, of Wellington, who has been staying in Auckland for a few days, returned to Wellington by the mid-day express yesterday. Mr. Gordon Coates, M.P. for Kaipara, who has enlisted for active service abroad, is to be tendered a farewell by his constituents at the opening of the Wa.mauku Bridge on Saturday afternoon. The members of the Board of Trade, Messvr. J. R. Hart, P. Hally, and W. G. McDonald, and the secretary, Mr. J. W. Collins, arrived in Auckland yesterday Mr. Hart is staying at the Northern Club, and Messrs. Hally, McDonald, and Collins are staying at Arundel House. The Hon. George Fowlds has accepted a seat on the board of trustees of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind. The vacancy was caused bv the resignation of Mr. Basil Hewett, who has found it necessary to retire on account of pressure of official duties after 18 months' service.
