PAST YEAR'S ACTIVITIES.

The annual general meeting of tha Paka« ranga Hunt Club was hold in the Auck- ■• land Pacing Club's rooms, Short-land Street, this afternoon. Mr. H. BullockWebster, master of the hounds, presided". over a large attendance of members. The annual report, which was presented, stated that the past year's activities had,, been satisfactory, and the club membership stood at 120. Members at the front. did not pay subscriptions. Owing chiefly > to the generosity of the Auckland.' Racing Club in placing their courseat, the disposal of the ch'b, a-, successful race meeting was held, atwhich a profit of £779 was made. The point-to-point steeplechases, though' marred by rain, were run successfully, th.9 five races being evenly contested, especially the ladies' nee, in which both com- • petitors gave an excellent exhifc'tion of norsewnmanship. The club had also to thank tie farmers who had so generously allowed iheir land to be hunted over during the season. On the retirement of the late humsman, Mr. A. S. Selby, on a pension of £65 per a; aura, the club was very fortunate in securing the services W ■ Mr." W. i. Hirst. Mr. u.rst was, unvil this season, huntsman to the Woodlands Hunt Club, from whi. he came to Auckland with the highest recommendations. ■ He has just taken over the fennels, and everything was in first-class order anl ready to commence the new season. The hounds had been out frequently M . the early mornings under the new huntman, and had shown most satisfactory spo-t, all the young hounds entering aT once, and a good season was anticipated. The halance-sheet shows that the receipts for the year amounted to £10»» i and the expenditure to £661, leaving a . credit balance of £397.
