ANZAC DAY CELEBRATIONS.
COUNTRY PARTICIPATION,
Tjie school children and a number of residents gathered at the Silverdale Hall to ■ celebrate Anzac Day. fcnort addresses were given by Mr. A. Jack, school commissioner, and Messrs. S. Scruby and W. E. Johns. The children sang the Russian National Anthem. In closing the pro*., ceedings Mr. Jack called for three checra for the heroes of Anzac, which were heartily given. Ono or two musical items were given in the course of the afternoon. Anzac Day was celebrated at Waiuku by services in Holy Trinity Chinch and in Wesley Church. The offertory in tha latter church, on behalf of the Servian Fund, amounted to £7 Is 3d. In tha' evening a united service was held in tha Public Hall Mr. A. M. Barriball pre- , sided, and addresses were given by tha Revs. J. Clover (Methodist), R. Bart; (Presbyterian), and 0. Fussell (Anglican). The Anzac Day celebrations at Ta ' Kuiti, which were presided over by Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., were marked by. a spirit of deep appreciation of the solemn importance" of the occasion. Tba speakers were Mr. Jennings, the Rev,,, Atcheson, Rev. Smyth, Mr. Pine, and Mr,' Scholes, county chairman.
