SOLDIERS' PENSIONS.
WORK OF THE BOARD.
AUCKLAND CLAIMS HEARD.
FIFTY-FOUR IN THREE DAYS.
Dehing the three days in which the War Pensions Board has been investigating in Auckland the claims of soldiers and their dependants 54 cases have been dealt with. Nine permanent pensions were granted, the allocations being as follows:—Two at £91 per annum, three at £78, two at £52, and two at £26. Twenty-five allowances for periods under 12 months, to come up for review at the end of the year, were granted as follows:—Two at 30s per week, two at 255, fourteen at £1, five at 10s, and two at 15s. In one section, men who had been receiving .61 per week from Wellington had their allowances increased <jto 255, and in two cases it was decided *" discontinue the amount previously paid. Fifteen application lodged during the last week were deferred until the medical reports wero obtained in Wellington.
In two cases the wives of disabled soldiers were granted allowances in addition to those paid to their husbands. One will receive 10s per week for herself and 6s per week for her one child, while the other was granted 10s and 15s for her three children. Thj total annual value of the grants made is £1911.
The members of tho board will leave Auckland to-day to hold sittings at Hamilton and Rotorua. They will return to Wellington at the end of the week.
