LLOYD GEORGE DEFENDED
"REAL LEADER OF NATION" SERVICES TO THE COUNTRY. (Received April 25, 6 p.m.) London, April 21. In a letter to the press, Mr. F. G. Kellaway, Liberal M.P. for Bedford, who is private secretary to Dr. Addison, Parliamentary Secretary for Munitions, defends Mr. D. Lloyd George, who, he says, saved the Liberal Party twice from disaster i within 12 months. In the early I stages of the war the position re- | garding money was most serious, and (no one could deny that Mr. Lloyd I George had saved the position. Similarly, when the shortage of munitions cropped up, he converted the country from Land's End to John o' Groat's into a great arsenal. Mr. Lloyd George had now brought j Cabinet to realise that if the Ger-j mans were to be beaten we must, organise the whole of our available manhood. The opponents of Mr. Lloyd George hope to drive him out of the Cabinet. Even if they succeed they cannot prevent him being i the real leader of the nation. His only crime is that he has seen clearer and sooner than have his critics..
