BOXING.
NORTHERN ASSOCIATION'S REPORT. The report, which will be presented at the eleventh annual meeting of the Northern Boxing Association, at the Amateur Sports Clubroom on Friday, states that the year's working onco again showed a profit, and notwithstanding adverse circumstances the association managed to st.go five nights of boxing. The boxers o r '.he district had magnificently responded t<. the call, and the committee was pleased to report there- was not one eligible amateur boxer ,'cft in Auckland. The committee regretted to annomico that among other boxers of this city, the following had given their lives for the country: — Charles Savory, Theo Marshall. Chares Dromgool, Rod Standcn, Laurie Shaw, Billy Moeki. and Em Cooko. The committee had not overlooked supplying gloves to tho troops from tho district, and up to the present had distributed 30 sets. The association had also responded to the numerous calls for funds ta an amount exceeding ffiO for the various war relief committees. The year's working, after allowing for depreciation £10 "7s, and crossing off a debt of £5. showed a jirofit of £72 2s 7d. The committee increased the fixed denosit at the Union Bank to £300, and also lodged £200 with the Auckland Savings Bank. The association took over control of tho Pnrnell Gymnasium, and by doing so was •■hie to supervise the training 'Operations of the boxers under engagement. The gymnasium hurl justified the money spent on it, and further, had been v.he means of encouraging young talen'
