EPSOM ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Epsom Road Board was held last evening. There were present : Messrs. IX. G. Clark, E. day, J. B. Macfarlane, and 11. Frost. Mr. R. G. Clark was voted to the chair in tho absence of Mr. F. H. Wood. It was reported that tho chairman had arranged for the payment of the, drainago loan of £5500 in one sum, instead of in instalments.
The board's engineer recommended the acceptance of Messrs. J. Hums and Co.'s tender of £2165 for the pipes for the new drainage system. He estimated that tho whole system would cost £3400. It was decided that, when tho drainage had been installed, the sanitary sen-ice should bo continued to those houses which were not required to connect with it or. account of their situation, or which were in the waterless area.
In regard to complaints, the Auckland Drainage Board wrote stating that its chairman had inspected the area affected, and it had been concluded that tho trouble was caused by the Epsom Hoard's sewer, and that therefore no responsibility in the matter rested upon the Drainage Board.
