Cocom J. E. Pnrdy left to? Welling ton by the first express yesterday.

Mr. Justice Chapman will bo in Auckland unt'l the eve- of Easter law vacation.

Paste- Carr, a missionary Jrom New Guinea, arrived in Auckland yesterday, en route to Nine Island.

Mr. E. C. Cutten, 8.M., returned by the express on Sunday morning from Dunedin, where he had been spending a holiday. Mr. Cutten resumed duty yesterday morning.

Captain McHart, of the Indian pilot service, arrived in Auckland yesbrdav morning by the Westralia. He will spend part of his two years' leave with his brother, who lives at Kawau Island.

Sir Joseph Ward, Bart., will arrive in Auckland by the Main Trunk express this morning. Ho will take part in the reception to the returned soldiers in the afternoon. Ho will stay at the Star Hotel.

The Hon. A. L. Herdman, AttornevGeneral, and Commissioner Cullen. both of whom have bean in the Urewcra district in connection with the arrest of Rua, the Maori " prophet," camo North yesterday from Rotorua, as far as' Hamilton. At Frankton they caught tho Wellingtonbound Main Trunk express.
