SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

CITY AND SUBURBS.

NOMINATIONS KECEIYED.

Nominations of candidates for election to the city and suburban school committees closed last evening. The elections will take place on Mondy next. In some of the suburban areas there appears to be a lack of interest in the matter, of which Panwll is a case in point. Although nine members constitute a full committee there are only four candidates in this district. As it is impossible even to form a quorum "the matter will have to he referred to the Education Board, for consideration. As the board has the power to appoint representatives the difficulty will probably be overcome in this manner

The candidates for election to the City Schools Committee are Messrs. A. Rose, Jas. Grace, W. Millar, W. Kane, G. Pardington, C. W. Davies, and Mrs. Baume, retiring members, and Messrs. W. Tailby, retiring secretary, P. C. Ansell, E. Luly, S. Kindly, P. E. Dromgool, and Mrs. M. Irwin. The following nominations have been received for election to the suburban committees :— Remuera: Messrs. W. J. Parker, W. R. Andrew, H. Dearsley, J. Dempsey, C. H. Furness, J. B. Paterson, J. W. Ryburn, 0. F. Underwood, old members. New members nominated are—Messrs. R. Heron, Andrew Paterson, and L. Townley. The number required to constitute the committee is nine. Ponsonbv: G. S. Bullen. W. J. Campbe'J, John Clark, G. C Codlin, John Graham, Mrs. Gertrude E. Hemus, Walter Lambourne, G. H. Let.iaby. C. V. Langsford, E. Martin. R. H. Swales, W- A Thompson, and T. Vivian. Messrs. Campbell, Clark, Lambourne, Lethaby, Swales, and Vivian arc members of the sitting committee. Nine members will require to be elected. As no more than the required number of nominations have been received, the Newton Committee will consist of Messrs. F. W. Brinsden, chairman, T. J. Dromgool, ''■"-ire. A. Little, A. Jenkin. A. E. Cave. W. J. Holdsworth, W. Peake, and J. "White. This also applies to Mount Albert, and the committee there will comprise Messrs. F. J. H. Ellisdon. C- W. Kayes, E. S. Inwood, J. P. Gamble, C. H. Page. M, Berry. J. W. Butler, and Mesdames E. A Wilson and J. McDonald. Although nine members are required for the Newmarket committee, only five nominations have been received. As this is sufficient to form a quorum the committee will be able to carry on the administration. The nominees are: Messrs. A. Smith, W. Smith, W. Latto, G. & B'ssett, and W. Sybun. The nominations for Pamell are Messrs. H. P. Josev, A. V. L'liffe. J. J. Fulton and C. G. Forrelly.
