TAXATION ON MATCHES.
PERIOD OF GRACE ALLOWED
London, April 9. Match-makers complain that foreign stocks already landed are treated as free of taxation, while those lying in the warehouses of British manufacturers are impounded for Excise.
It ia officially stated that the Excise Board has decided to allow a period of grace before collecting the tax, which amouuts to 3s 6d Customs and 3s 4jd Excise duty on every / 10,000 matches.. Stocks ia hand, 'on, £0$ 6 wjll not be. taxed,
