FRENCH AEROPLANES VERY ACTIVE AROUND FORTRESS. Hist Commissioner's Ciblsd Message. , London, March 14. North of Verdun during Monday the bombardment was more Intense at Morthomme and Bois de Bourrus. There was also artillery. . activity.in the Woevre district, south-east of Verdun. There were no infantry actions. i The bombardment continues at Bethincourt, west of the Meuße. In the sectors of Moulainville, and Rongaux, east of Verdun, the (French artillery is very active. A squadron of six aeroplanes dropped 130 shells on Bireulles, north of Verdun. In air fights, three German aeroplanes were brought down. The advantage in numerous air encounters is indisputably with the. French. A French air squadron bombarded Conflans railway station, 20 miles east of Verdun. Five fires" were counted. • All the airmen returned safely.
