She returns to Auckland on March 26, and is timed to sail for Sydney the following day. The Opawa arrived from the West of England, via Australian ports, yesterday afternoon, and berthed at the King's Wharf. The voyage was uneventful. Qn discharge of 5000 tons of cargo here the Opawa proceeds South to complete discharge. HIGH-PRICED SHIPS. The fine shelter-deck steamer Verdun, of Glasgow, 2694 tons net, and 4295 tens gross register, has been sold through, Liverpool and Glasgow shipbrokere to British buyers for tho extraordinary price of £155,000. which on a deadweight of nearly 8000 tons, works out at nearly £20 per ton. She is practi-l cally a new vessel, having been launched in November. 1914, at Port Glasgow, by Messrs. Russell ?nd Co.. ITALY'S LAEGEST LINER, The trans-Atlantic liner Duilio, the largest and most important passenger ship yet con structed in Italy, has been launched at Genoa for the Navigszione Generale Itahana. The new ship is 27,000 tons burden, and has a speed of 20 knots. She is to be used in the South American service. A LONG WAIT. The American steamer Newton, which left San Francisco on September 30 for Newport New* and Stockholm, and arrived at Balboa on October 15. after waiting there for 84 days, owing to the canal slips, proceeded on her way to Newport News on January 7, then on to Stockholm.
