As the "result of a conference between Dr. Chesson, the health officer, and the [Sanitary Committee of the City Council, prompt measures are being taken to make the city even cleaner than it is, and so to guard against the spread of infantile paralysis, Jh? committee has decided to
temporarily appoint three additional inspectors. Since Monday the city inspectors have been paying special attention to all stables and jnanure bins in the, city. That tour has been practically completed now, and the inspectors will turn to house-to-house inspection. It is intended to enforce the city sanitary by-laws strictly, and where conditions are very bad the lapse of time between a warning and a prosecution will be very brief. In order to help residents to get rid of accumulations of refuse without delay the Works Committee has decided that garbage shall bo removed free of charge until March 31. DEATH AT HAUTAPU. [DT TELEGRAPH!—OWN > CORRESPONDENT.] Cambridge, Sunday. An inquest into the circumstances attendin? the death of Janet Helena Hill was held in the Courthouse on Saturday evening. Deceased, who was 26 years of age, and the wifo of a farmer residing at Hautapu, died on Friday last. Threo doctors gave evidence that the cause of death was infantile paralysis, and the jury's verdict was in accordance with the "medical I testimony. There are several isolated cases of infanj tile paralysis in this district, and the jury added a rider that during the prevalence oi the epidemic all schools in tho district should bo closed, TWO CASES IN OROUA DISTRICT. [DT TELECRArn.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wanoavui, Sunday. Two cases of infantile paralysis in Oroua Downs are reported. One patient, whose arm is paralysed, has been removed to Palmerstoii Hospital. TOTAL OP SIX CASES AT NAPIER. [DT' TELECRArn.— ASSOCIATION. Napier, Sunday. Another case of infantile paralysis is reported, a child 30 months of age, making a total of six Napier cases.
