CAPTURED GERMANS PROSTRATED AND DAZED.
HOW A REGIMENT ADVANCED TO ANNIHILATION, SOME of THE ENEMY'S TROOPS BROUGHT FROM SERVIA. . Times and Sydney Sun Services. (Received March 5, 5.5 p m.) Paris, March 4. The Germans captured are prostrated and dazed by the awful ordeal through which they have passed. Many are nerve shaken and cry piteously. They give the most graphic details of various phases of the battle. One regiment was ordered to advance over thick, sticky clay. The men stumbled and fell helplessly, and mitrailleuses mowed them down. A number of the prisoners state that they were recalled from Servia to Verdun, and told that they were assisting in the final victory. They went into battle full of confidence, their regiment attacking the crest of the ridge south of Beaumont. Half the men were killed. The remainder soon left cover, and went into a furnace. Most of them fell, but a few were taken prisoner.
