BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING. At a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council on Friday night the tender of Mr. W. McHarrie, at £165, was accepted for painting the traffic bridge, as was that of Mr. C. J,. Lowe, at £364 10s, for the erection of a band rotunda at Ferry Bank. It was decided to amend the by-law referring to buildings in the brick area to give the council discretionary power to authoriso additions to the external walls of existing wood or iron buildings in similar material to the eirtent of £20. At a meeting of tho Board of Governors of the Hamilton High School it was reported that Miss Charlotte Harrison had Keen appointed assistant mistress, and Miss Phoebe junior mistress to tho school. Tho principal reported that there were 102 pupils taking the classical course, 111 the commercial, and 20 the agricultural. CAMBRIDGE. "ANZAC DAY" CELEBRATION. A meeting, convened by Captain Peake, to consider the matter of arranging a celebration of Anzac Day, was held in the council chambers on Saturday afternoon. I There was a representative attendance, Captain Peako suggested that a fitting way of commemorating tho day would bo to hold a church parndo and a memorial service in the Town Hall on the Sunday afternoon following April 25. It was decidedto carry out tho suggestion, and to make the function undenominational. The Mayor, Mr. M. . Wells, Captain Peake, and the ministers of tho various denominations, with tho Rev. W. Row as convener, wero appointed a committee to carry the arrangements through. Captain Peake stated that Mr. Congalton had consented to take chargo of tho musical portion of the service. 9 Hearty sehd-Off gathering* are being Given to all the men who are leaving the town and district for active service. On Friday evening the yOung men honoured were Messrs. V. Dons, J. Martyn, E, Moleawofth, Geo. Morris, and J. Wood*. A gift Of a sfifety-rMor was made to each departing soldier" WARKWORTH. TOWN BOARD MEETING. A meeting of the Warkworth Town Board was held on Friday night. It was decided to open the library on Thursday afternoon. In connection with the recruiting campaign, it was 'resolved : " That the board form itself into a recruiting committee as requested by the Government; but, at the .samo time, urge consdriptioti." The treasurer presented the annual balance-sheet, and a vote of thanks was accorded him for his clear explanation of the finances.
