HOSPITAL AT WARKWORTH.
SELECTION OF A SITE A visit was paid on Saturday by some members of the Auckland Hospital Board to the board's property at Warkworth for the purpose of selecting a site for the new cottage hospital. The party comprised Mr. M. J. Coyle, chairman of the board, and Messrs. P. J. Nerheny, W. Wallace' F. Dye, J. G. Rutherford, A. Hall Skelton, G. J. Garland, and Captain [ Thomas, house manager at the Auckland Hospital. The party left Devonport in I two motor-cars at 8.30 a.m., and reached Warkworth at one o'clock. The board's property at Warkworth comprises 10 acres. On this land is situated a cottage which for the past two years has been the headquarters of tho district nurse. The services of the nurse have been much appreciated, but the settlers felt that more facilities were required for dealing with accidents and other serious cases. Representations were made, with the result that the Inspector(General of Hospitals recently approved of the erection of a.joasualty and maternity ward on the board's property. It is not intended that cases should be nursed in those wards, but that they should receive attention there prior to proceeding to the Auckland Hospital if necessary. The party was met on its arrival by the chairman of the Warkworth Road Board. A thorough inspection of the property was made and several minor matters in connection with the board's work in the district were discussed. The party returned to Devonport about 5.30 p.m. The matter of the site will be further discussed at the nest meeting of the board.
