LONELY MEN'S DEATHS.
OLD AGE AND EXHAUSTION. ECCENTRICITY IN HABITS. The death of a.n old man named James Millar, who has been living alone in Richardson Road, Mount Albert, occurred in the hospital yesterday afternoon. He was admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening, and was then in a moribund condition. Millar was 77 years old, and had been living alone for some years. His condition indicated that ho had suffered from neglect and lack of proper food. Some recent of habit was shown by the 'h, i that he had allowed his beard to grow i«> his knees. In view of the apparent 1 "v stato of the man's health the police at M' tint Albert communicated with the hospital Authorities on Saturday morning ■ i'-i arranged for his admission. An ambulmco was sent out, but in the meantime the "Id man had wandered away. He was i und again in the evening, and when admitted to the hospital was in a delirious condition. He died yesterday afternoon, probably as a result of exhaustion and .-enile .hvav. j
MAN FOUND DEAD IN BED.
FATALITY AT ALBANY.
An old Dutchman named Pouke Jacob an Dyke, 79 years of age, was found dead in his bed in his whare at Albany on Saturday. The evidence given at the inquest, held before Mr. E. C. Cut-ten, S.M., yesterday, showed that the man was last seen alive on New Year's Eve. He lived by himself, on his awn property. His periodical visits to the storekeeper ceased and, when a search was made the body was found. A verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure.
