JUVENILE COURT.

BOY CHARGED WITH THEFT. TitE case against a 14-year-old-lad, who was charged with stealing a sum of £1 from the purse of Mrs. Surtees, came before Mr. F. V. Eraser, S.M., at the Juvenile Court on Saturday, and was adjourned for cue week, in order to enable the juvenile probationer officer to make inquiries into the matter. It was stated by the police that the lad had gone into Mrs. Surteo's house durine her absence, and had abstracted a £1 note from her purse. He had taken the money to his mother. When the loss was reported to the police, inquiries had been made from the lad'B mother concerning the money. She had stoutly denied on occasions that she had received the money, but ! later the had admitted it.
