FLAG SOLD AT WOOL SALE.
TOTAL OF £1218 REALISED. [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] L'hristohttrch, Monday. A flag, presented by the Wool-brokers' Association, was offered at the wool sales today on behalf of the Canterbury Patriotic Fund, and realised £1218 8s 6d. Speaking to a reporter after the sale, a leading wool-buyers said : " I wish yc/u to draw the attention of the public to tho fact that the success of the sale was due very largely to tho liberality of the brokers and buyers, not to the growersOf the money received for the flag, tho former gave £908, and the latter £310Considering that the wool sold to-dav was worth quite £450,000, I think farmers and wool-growers are not bearing their full share, and I think tho time has come when they should dip ii to their pockets for patriotic purposes much deeper than thev have done hitherto."
