At the wool sales, choice wools are now scarce, and the result is an extremely sxcited market-. Fancy prices have been paid for the best lots, especially scoured Merinos. Of the total of 33,378 bales catalogued, 197 were sold. The Orewha clip realised 16d. The Great half-bred clip realised 23d' as the top price, and 13-] d as an average. LONDON MARKETS. Chicago December options, sellers 1152 cents, buyers 112 cent--;. May, sellers 117 cents, buyers 113*} cents. The quantity of wheat and Hour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,020.000 quarters ; for the Continent, 2,455,000 quarters. Atlantic shipments total 911.000 quarters, and Pacific shipments 13.000 quarters. The total for Europe is 1,240,000 quarters. FROZEN MEAT. New Zealand ewes, 6d; Canterbury lambs, second quality, light, 7d. South American sheep, light, 6Jd; heavy, 6|-d ; ewes, none offering. Argentine beef, chilled fores. sfd ; hind*. 7^d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from London — " Tallow : We quote present spot values for the following descriptions of tallow :— Fine mutton. £2 lis 9d per cwt; good beef £2 10s 6d ; mixed, £2 6s 6d. The market is dull, with an upward tendency." BUTTER AND EGGS. The Dairy Produce Committee has fixed the wholesale price of butter and eggs tor the week ending December 18 as follows :Farmers', separator, and dairybutter, lOd per lb ; eggs, lid per doz.
