FUNDS FOR GOOD PURPOSES. j . . The object of the function was to supplement the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Ladies' Guild Fund, ai:d. owing to the generosity of the visitors, a substantial sum was handed ( over to the treasurer. | All Saints' parish made an effort on I Saturday in the interests of its vicarage ' fund in the form of a " hard-up " sale of : work and miscellaneous entertainment. I There was a fair attendance during the afternoon and evening, and the proceeds of the movement amounted to some £35. The " Allies Garden Fete," in aid oi the hospital ship'equipment funds, which wa« held in the beautiful grounds of Mr. G. E. A feature of the fete was the maypole dancing. There was a large attendance at a farden fete, in aid of St. Mark's Remuera /adies' Guild, held on Saturday afternoon, in the grounds of the Mesdaroeg Campbell, Arney Road, Remuera. ihe gardens, which had been thrown open for the occasion, were charming in their dieplay of roses and other choice blooms. The ladies were kept busy at the various booths during the afternoon. About a dozen gentlemen took charge of the bowling green, the turf being in excellent order. As a result of the bazaar over £100 will be available for the purpose of providing extra comforts for Now Zealand soldiers in Egyptian hospitals. The bazaar, consisting of a number of prettily decorated stalls and a fine Christmas tree, was opened by Mrs. Alfred Kidd, president of the Auckland Trained Nurses Association. The stalls were in charge of the following ladies :— Produce: Nurses Miller and Smith. Fancy Goods: Nurses Bannister and Evans. Sweets: Nurses Watson and Dormer.
