QUEEN OF CAMBRIDGE. FUND AMOUNTS TO £14,000. TBT telegraph.— CORRESPONDENT.] Cambridge, Wednesday. Thk coronation ceremony in connection with the Cambridge distriet. Quetn Carnival took place in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, and from every standpoint was thoroughly successful. The arrangements were carefully planned. The procession to the throne-room was imposing and pretty, and the audience was unstinted in its plaudits as scene succeeded scene in the throne-room. Mrs. Crowther who was exquisitely robed, filled her part with dignity and grace, the same remarks applying to her attendant queens, Mrs. Richard Reynolds, Mrs. "Mervyn Wells, Miss Bailey, and Miss Lundon, and the ladies-in-waiting. Owing to a death in her family Mrs. Goodwin the Matangi queen, was unable to attend. Mr. J. H. Hammond and Mr. Geo Warren, of Auckland, carried out with dignity and ability the respective duties of Lord Chancellor and Lord Chamberlain, and Mr. C. Meredith those of Master of Ceremonies. Mrs. Bollard, the Queen of the South, was Mistress of the Robes. She received an ovation during the course of the ceremony. Mr. A. H. Nicoll was crown-bearer, while members of the boy scouts acted as pages, trumpeter, and standard-bearers. The musical portion of the function was of a high order of merit. Mr. Samuel Adams, of Auckland, was musical director, having with him a number of skilled instrumentalists. These were supplemented by a strong choir of over 70 voices, under the conductorship of Mr. J. H. Edwards, of Auckland. The choir sang "The Hallelujah" chorus, Kiplin?'s recessional, " Lest We Forget" and "Land of Hope and Glorv." in the latter of which Mr. Wallace Atkinson, of Auckland, took the solo. Mr. Atkinson also sang a conr'e of solos. Miss Jessie Bartlett, of Auckland, delighted her hirers with several vocal numbers. The orchestra, crave several concerted pieces. Master Carl Whitmore a violin solo, and Mr. Charles Rd wards a 'cello solo. During an interval the Mayo-, Mr. Mervyn Wells, stated that Cambridge and district had raised £14.000 towards the "Wounded Soldiers* Fund, and on behalf of the executive he thanked each and all for their work and contributions.
