STAR OF CANADA SALVAGE.

AGREEMENT AS TO VALUATION.

[BY telegraph. — PßESS .'SOCTATION.] Wkli.ingt-j . Wednesday. The Supreme Court to-oay heard further evidence in the Star of Canada wreck case, wherein J. P. Niven and Co., of Napier, claimed from the Salvage Association, of London, £7097 in connection with the salvage operations at Gisborne in 1912. The sum of £1700 was also claimed as damages for breach of agreement and for interest. In the alternative, plaintiffs ask the Court to order valuation of the salvaged gear, etc. While denying most of plaintiffs' allegations, defendants were prepared to pay £4000 into Court in settlement of the claim. It was announced to-day that the parties had reached an agreement that the valuation of salvaged material remaining in New Zealand should be referred to the registrar, acting with a referee.
