Proposals in regard to steps to be taken in trade matters after the end of the war will shortly be; considered by the British Chambers of Com merce. They will probably recommend the holding of a conference between the Government and the representatives of Great Britain, the Overseas Dominions, and the allied . nations to discuss international trade matters, with a view of arranging a maximum and minimum British tariff with a preference to the Overseas Dominions and a surtax upon German and Austrian goods.
