Justice Younger, in giving judgment on the question whether a. trades union can apply its funds in the direction cf subscribing for shares in a Labour news- ' paper, held that the transaction of the Boilermakers' Union was ultra vires- He ruled that the union was liable for the refund of the £1000 so invested, with interest at the rate of 4 per cent, from the date of payment.
