GERMANY FEELING A SUBMARINE BLOCKADE.
SUCCESS OF BRITISH SUBMARINES IN THE BALTIC. CAPTAIN SEES FIVE STEAMERS SUNK. (Received October 16. 12.30 a.m.) Copenhagen, October 15. The success of the British submarines in the Baltic overshadows even the Balkans situation from the Danish point of view. A captain saw three steamers sunk on Monday after explosions, and found the wreckage of lifeboats floating bottom upwards. Steering east he saw another steamer disappear 4003 - away. Later in the evening he heard a terrific explosion, and saw a vessel's lights extinguished. The tables have been turned on the Germans in waters where hitherto they have been unchallenged. Neutral ships have not been molested, but the effective isolation of Germany is resulting. Losses are only reported when the crews land in Sweden. Nothing is said in cases where the crews land in Germany.
