LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
REARRANGEMENT OF NOMINATION [BT TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Tuesday. The Legislative Council Amendment Bill, notice of which has been given by the Prime Minister, is designed to rearrange the system of nomination of members so that one party shall not have a fixed majority in the Upper Chamber during the period that has to elapse before the Council becomes fully elective. The present Legislative Council Act provides that no nominations to seats in the Council should be made after the close of the present year. Its effect might have been to keen the representatives of any party in a majority in the Council until the Council became fully elective in 1921. The Bill is expected to extend the period within which nominations may be made until the date when the Council becomes fully elective. „
